Abstract: Present invention discloses a synergistic microbial composition for the treatment of textile dyes. The composition comprises bacterial strain Enterococcus gallinarum BG4 having viable cell count in the range of 2 x 107CFU/ml to 8 x 108 CFU/ml in an optimized culture media, and a stabilizing agent. The optimized culture media comprises nutrient broth and a co-enzyme or co-factor at a concentration range of 0.5 mM to 2mM. The composition achieves 92% to 99% decolorization of the textile dyes within 6 to 8 hours under anaerobic static conditions.
