MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202644093956 A) filed by Visai Labs Private Limited on August 03, 2026, for A System And A Method For Object-Ground Separation In Depth Sensing.

Inventors include Ashok Babu; and J T Ramprakash.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A system for object-ground separation in depth sensing is disclosed. The system includes a base structure including a base plate to act as a reference background for object-ground separation. A plurality of nails extends upward from the base plate to physically hold and elevate an object above the base plate, ensuring depth separation between the object and the reference background. A depth-sensing camera captures depth information by recording depth frames of the base plate. An analyzing module determines depth data spread and threshold. The threshold is one-third of the depth data spread and determines a height of the nails as sum of the depth data spread and the threshold. The determined height is applied to the plurality of nails prior to object placement such that the object is elevated above the base plate to enable object-ground separation thereby preventing merging of the object with the reference background in the depth sensing.
