MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521041241 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Gandhinagar on April 29, 2025, for A System And A Method For Real-Time Bacterial Growth Monitoring In A Bacterial Cell Culture.

Inventors include Kambekar Aniruddha Ajaykumar; and Pushpavanam Karthik Subramaniam.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR REAL-TIME BACTERIAL GROWTH MONITORING IN A BACTERIAL CELL CULTURE The present disclosure discloses a system(100) and a method(200) for real-time bacterial growth monitoring in a bacterial cell culture. The system(100) comprises a housing(102) that receives a culture vessel(110) containing the bacterial cell culture. An optical detection unit(104) comprises a light source(104a) to emit light into the bacterial cell culture and a photodiode sensor(104b) to detect backscattered light. A calibration unit(104c) converts said electrical signal into a standardized optical density value. A processing unit(106) compares the standardized optical density value to a user-defined threshold value and generates a control signal. An inducer dispensing unit(108) comprising an inducer storage(108a) to store a chemical inducer and an actuation assembly(108b) to mechanically open a lid of said microcentrifuge tube in response to said control signal. A user interface(112) receives the user-defined threshold value from a user and displays real-time optical density values, system(100) status, and induction events.
