Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) for adaptive salinity-enhanced underwater optical wireless communication. The system (100) comprises an optical transmitter (102), an optical receiver (104), one or more environmental input interfaces (106), and a control unit (108). The control unit (108) processes salinity data, turbidity data, depth data, and received optical link-quality data to configure transmission parameters of the optical transmitter (102), including selectable optical transmission wavelength and optical transmit power. The control unit (108) evaluates candidate transmission configurations using link-quality metrics including signal- to-noise ratio, Q-factor, and bit error rate, and may apply Z-score-based statistical ranking to select a suitable configuration. The system (100) supports non-line-of-sight underwater optical wireless communication using diffuse optical propagation, scattering, beam steering, reflector-based propagation, or multi-hop relay arrangements. The system (100) improves underwater optical link reliability by using salinity-dependent and turbidity-dependent channel characteristics for adaptive transmission control.
