MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124417 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 16, 2026, for A System And Method For Bidirectional Airflow-Adaptive Dual-Plant Active Noise Cancellation In Open Ventilation Ducts.
Inventors include Kalaivani S; Kalaiarasi Ng; Dhurga J; Kishore Ganesh Va; and Deepak Kumar S.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a system (100) for airflow-adaptive dual-plant active noise cancellation in open ventilation ducts, integrating dual-MEMS sensing, spatial coherence filtering, airflow estimation, simultaneously updated secondary-path models, airflow-weighted model blending, adaptive FxLMS control, piezoelectric actuation, and residual-noise feedback, thereby maintaining adaptive low-frequency noise cancellation under bidirectional airflow conditions. The system (100) comprises a dual-MEMS acoustic sensing module (102), a spatial coherence filtering engine (108), an airflow estimation module (110), a dual-plant acoustic modeling engine (112), an airflow-weighted model blending engine (118), an adaptive filtered-x least mean square control engine (120), a piezoelectric acoustic actuation module (122), and a residual noise monitoring module (126). The system (100) continuously blends opposite-flow secondary-path models according to airflow direction and velocity and generates anti-noise using a coherence-filtered acoustic reference and residual acoustic error feedback.
