Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CATHARSIS-BASED LEARNING RETENTION USING EMOTIONAL ENGAGEMENT AND COGNITIVE LOAD MODULATION The present invention relates to a system and method for enhancing learning retention through a catharsis-based framework integrating emotional engagement and cognitive load regulation. The system is configured to generate structured emotional experiences using techniques such as storytelling, simulations, and reflective activities, thereby inducing emotional buildup, expression, and resolution. Said emotional experiences facilitate emotional engagement, which enhances cognitive and affective processing to improve memory consolidation. The system further regulates cognitive load to maintain an optimal balance between emotional intensity and cognitive processing capacity, thereby preventing cognitive overload and improving learning efficiency. The method includes sequential steps of generating emotional experiences, enabling emotional engagement, performing cognitive encoding, and achieving long-term knowledge retention and real-world application. The invention provides a structured approach to integrating emotional and cognitive mechanisms, thereby improving learning outcomes in educational, corporate training, and simulation-based environments.
