Abstract: Abstract The present invention discloses a Contextual Information Retrieval System (CIRS) employing ontology-based knowledge representation and semantic analysis for precision-driven document retrieval from large datasets. The system comprises six integrated functional layers: a View Layer for user interaction; a Query Interpretation and Semantic Processing Layer for semantic decomposition of natural language queries; a Knowledge Modeling and Ontology Management Layer for dynamic domain knowledge representation using RDF-based triple structures; a Document Acquisition and Indexing Layer for intelligent crawling and ontology- aligned semantic indexing; a Semantic Matching and Retrieval Layer encoding queries and documents into multidimensional semantic vectors and computing similarity scores via cosine similarity and weighted semantic distance metrics; and a Result Presentation, Feedback, and Adaptation Layer for ranked display, user feedback integration, and iterative query refinement. The system dynamically evolves through ontology expansion, adaptive learning from user interactions, and pattern-based enrichment, overcoming limitations of conventional keyword-based retrieval systems across healthcare, legal, e-commerce, education, and scientific research domains.
