Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS IOT-DRIVEN STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING OF TAILING DAMS The present invention relates to structural health monitoring of tailing dams using an Internet of Things (IoT) framework. A system comprises a plurality of sensor nodes each housed in a weather-proof enclosure and including a high-resolution imaging unit with a global-shutter CMOS or CCD imager and optics assembly, co-located environmental and geotechnical sensors, and an embedded control and data acquisition module featuring an ARM-based microcontroller, real-time clock, circular flash buffer, power management unit, and multi-mode communication transceiver. These nodes communicate over LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Wi-Fi or Ethernet to an on-site edge server housing a data pre-processing module, image/pattern analysis engine, data fusion module, alert generation module and secure database, thereby providing continuous real-time detection of cracks, deformations and environmental anomalies with threshold-based alerts via SMS, email or SCADA integration.
