MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611104111 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 29, 2026, for A System And Method For Disaster Detection And Rescue Assistance.

Inventors include Krish; and Bhavya.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for disaster detection and rescue assistance using Internet of Things (IoT) sensor fusion and autonomous drones. A plurality of distributed IoT sensor nodes continuously monitor environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, gas concentration, vibration, smoke concentration, and water level. The acquired data are transmitted to a centralized processing platform configured to perform multi-sensor fusion for detecting disaster events. Upon confirmation of abnormal conditions, one or more autonomous drones are automatically deployed to capture aerial images, video streams, geographical information, and telemetry data from affected areas. An artificial intelligence analysis module integrates the environmental and aerial data to determine disaster type, severity, affected regions, and probable victim locations. The processed information is displayed through a centralized monitoring interface to facilitate timely rescue planning and emergency response. The invention improves situational awareness, reduces response time, minimizes human risk, and enhances disaster management efficiency
