MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411101188 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 20, 2024, for A System And Method To Enhance Safety And Comfort Of An Occupant In A Vehicle.

Abstract: A system (100) to enhance safety and comfort of an occupant in a vehicle includes an air bladder unit (106) in a foot well area of the vehicle and comprises a plurality of air bladders (108) and an Air Supply Controller Unit (ASCU) (112). On receiving the crash signal from ECU (104), air bladder unit (106) is rapidly deployed by the ASCU) (112), by inflating the plurality of air bladders (108) to reduce impact force from the crash transmitted to the occupant. Under normal conditions, ECU (104) generates a non-crash signal to allow the ASCU (112) to supply air to the plurality of air bladders (108) of the air bladder unit (106) in a predefined pattern for massaging feet of the occupant.
