MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621106558 A) filed by Ramdeobaba University, Nagpur; and Pund, Sachin S. on September 04, 2026, for A System For Conditioning Moisture Content Of A Sheet Of Printing Media Prior To Printing.

Inventor includes Pund, Sachin S..

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (100) for conditioning moisture content of a sheet (105) of printing media prior to printing. The system (100) includes a sheet transport assembly (110), a paper-presence sensor (120), a moisture sensor array (130), a first conditioning unit (140) comprising at least one infrared emitter (142), a second conditioning unit (150) comprising a thermal roller (152) and an opposing roller (154), a temperature sensor (160), a heater driver (170), and a controller (180). The controller (180) determines a moisture condition from measurements obtained across laterally spaced zones of the sheet (105), compares the moisture condition with target moisture range and first and second moisture thresholds, selectively permits unconditioned passage, activates infrared conditioning for a first moisture excursion, or activates the thermal roller (152) for a greater moisture excursion. The controller (180) further determines a heating level and regulates heater power using closed-loop temperature feedback before advancing the conditioned sheet to a print engine (250).
