MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511129084 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu on December 19, 2025, for A System For Evaluating Flexural Cracks In A Concrete Bridge And A Method Thereof.

Inventors include Mustafa, Samim; and Srivastava, Abhishek Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A system (100) and a method (200) for evaluating flexural cracks in a concrete bridge includes displacement sensors (102) positioned at predetermined locations on the concrete bridge to sense displacement responses while a train bogie with known axle loads and known axle spacings move across the concrete bridge. The system (100) includes a low pass filter unit (104) in communication with the plurality of displacement sensors (102) to extract static displacement influence line responses from total displacement responses of the bridge. The system (100) includes a controller (106) to analyze the extracted static displacement responses using Bayesian analysis for determining most probable displacement influence line coefficients and associated covariance matrices. The system (100) includes an assessment module (106A) implemented by the controller (106) to define a fractional damage level and compute probability of damage based on Gaussian approximation of displacement influence line coefficients for calculating probability of damage.
