MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541008078 A) filed by Ather Energy Limited on January 30, 2025, for A System For Managing Regenerative Braking In A Vehicle.

Inventors include S N, Gokula Krishna; Nellayi Venkateswaran, Shivaram; and Rao, Ashwin.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: A system (200) for managing regenerative braking in a vehicle is disclosed. The system (200) includes a motor controller (202) to receive a torque request from one or more peripherals of the vehicle during a regenerative braking operation. A battery (204) transmits an average charging current limit of predefined amperes and a pulsed charging profile including a pulse frequency and a duty cycle to the motor controller (202). During the regenerative braking operation, the motor controller (202) sends an average current with pulsed charging to the battery (204) based on the average charging current limit and the pulsed charging profile. The average current is equal to or less than the average charging current limit, and greater than a normal regeneration current limit, such that the battery (204) dissipates a secondary power (Pb2) more than a battery power (Pb1) for enhanced regenerative braking of the vehicle.
