MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125541 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on October 21, 2026, for A System To Generate Power Using Energy-Harvesting Floor.
Inventors include Hemanth Kumar A; and Karthikeyan Kothandapani.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A system 100 for generating electric power through floor includes a tile surface 202 to serve as load bearing platform; a rubber sheet 204 positioned beneath the tile surface 202 including a plurality of piezoelectric transducers 102 in one or more geometrical pattern, and supported by corresponding compression spring 104; and a base plate 206 configured to anchor and align components of the system 100 such that the tile 202, rubber sheet 204 with embedded piezoelectric transducers 102 and base plate 206 are clamped to form a multi-layered energy unit 200 and such units 200 are placed to make floors for energy harvesting sequence, and when mechanical stress is applied to multi-layered energy units 200, the embedded piezoelectric transducers 102 oscillates between a compressed position and a de-compressed position causing piezoelectric transducers 102 to induce electric voltage and the generated direct current voltage is converted into DC voltage for storage and utilization for load 112.
