Abstract: A system (100) to prevent entry of snow into an air intake of engine in a vehicle includes a set of flaps (102/104) pivotally fixed alternately on two opposite sides of intake air passage in an overlapping manner to create a serpentine path (116-2) for incoming air with snow flowing into the air intake so that the majority of the air flow comes in contact with lower heated flaps (104) and snow particles present in it liquefy and remove from the air going to the engine. The drainage system helps to remove the liquefied fluid through the system. This prevents snow accumulation in the air engine region which subsequently affects the engine performance and may also stop engine due to insufficient air flow The set of flaps includes upper flaps (102) pivotally coupled to a lower surface of the motor hood (106), and lower flaps (104) pivotally coupled to the reinforcement (108). The lower flaps (104) include a heating coil (402) to facilitate melting of the snow particles. A water draining arrangement (500) disposes the melted snow.
