Abstract: The proposed testing device (100) for rapid detection of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in a biological sample includes a disposable microfluidic cartridge (100A). The disposable microfluidic cartridge (100A) includes a nucleic acid separation zone (104) to facilitate segregation of purified nucleic acids that are introduced through an inner port (105) from cellular debris based on bifurcation flow principles within the channel network; and an amplification chamber (106) comprising a chitosan- functionalized substrate to enhance nucleic acid capture and facilitate in situ amplification. The disposable microfluidic cartridge (100A) includes an inlet port (103) to introduce a sample into the amplification chamber (106) and a lateral flow assay (LFA) strip (110) to provide a visual indication of the presence or absence of HPV DNA within a predefined time period after introduction of the biological sample into the disposable microfluidic cartridge (100A), without requiring external laboratory equipment.
