Abstract: Abstract A smart thermal decomposter for bioorganic waste, particularly kitchen waste, comprising an insulated composting chamber (1), a resistive heating element (5) with thermal fuse safety cutoff (18), a stirrer assembly (6), embedded aeration tubes (7), a lower inlet fan (8) and an upper exhaust fan (9) configured to maintain net negative-pressure airflow through the composting mass via a plenum and four-tube distribution path, and a camera (10) mounted on the inner face of the chamber lid. A sensor suite (11) comprising temperature sensing elements (11a, 11b) and a capacitive moisture sensor (11c) acquires synchronised process data, which is collected by a microcontroller-based acquisition module (12) and transmitted to a single-board processing unit (13). The single-board processing unit (13) processes image data through a metaheuristic-optimised convolutional neural network and sensor data through a metaheuristic module, fuses the outputs to determine a compost maturity stage across three to five classes, displays the result on a visual output interface (14), and generates adaptive control signals to regulate heating, airflow, and stirrer operation.
