MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611072632 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Jodhpur on June 11, 2026, for A Time-Domain Edge Detection System And A Method Thereof.

Inventors include Amandeep Kaur; and Hanumat Prasad Yadav.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A TIME-DOMAIN EDGE DETECTION SYSTEM AND A METHOD THEREOF A time-domain edge detection system is disclosed. The system comprises an image sensor configured to generate electrical signals corresponding to spatially adjacent pixels, a decoder unit configured to retrieve the electrical signals, a comparison unit configured to generate transition signals based on threshold crossing instances relative to one or more reference voltage signals, a timing unit configured to generate transition timing pulse and delay signals, and an edge detection unit configured to generate edge indication signals based on temporal overlap conditions between the transition timing pulse and the delay signals. A processing unit selectively extracts and processes image data corresponding to detected edge- associated regions. The disclosed system performs edge detection during image acquisition using timing-domain processing, thereby reducing redundant image readout operations, analog-to-digital conversion activity, memory access operations, processing overhead, and power consumption while improving suitability for low-power real-time imaging applications.
