Abstract: A retractable trailer hitch 100 configured with a cross beam 102 in a vehicle includes a hook 152 coupled to a first end of arms 154 of a scissors mechanism 150; and a retraction mechanism 200 coupled to a second end of the arms 154 of the scissors mechanism 150 to move the second ends of the arms 154 inwards closer to each other, resulting in the hook 152 fixed to the first end of arms 154 moving from a retracted position below the cross beam 102, to a deployed position, outwards in a longitudinal direction, and moved up to facilitate coupling of a trailer to the hook 152. The retraction mechanism 200 is guided by V-shaped slots 104 in the cross beam to move the hook 152 first down to an intermediate position and thereafter up to a final deployed position.
