MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641045455 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on April 09, 2026, for A Twist-Lock Attachment For A Pulse Oximeter.
Inventors include Dr. Keerthi T; Dr. Sathya Siva K; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Abstract: This invention presents a novel pulse oximeter incorporating a precision attachable locking mechanism to ensure stable and continuous sensor contact with the skin. The system is engineered to fundamentally enhance monitoring reliability by significantly minimizing motion artifacts and data acquisition interruptions caused by patient movement, external tremor, or active physical exertion, e.g. treadmill. This stability directly translates to superior accuracy and consistency in measured SpO and pulse rate readings, even in conditions of low perfusion. The robust, versatile, and secure design is uniquely suited for demanding clinical environments, including ICU, emergency transport, and pulmonary rehabilitation, and is especially beneficial for challenging patient groups such as unconscious, paediatric, and movement disorder patients, thereby advancing both patient safety and the clinical utility of continuous monitoring
