Abstract: The present invention is in the field of cleaning compositions. It relates to a unit dose tablet providing a liquid cleaning composition on dissolution in water. There is a need for an improved tablet containing significantly high amount of detersive active, which is hard, yet dissolves fast in contact with water. The present invention provides a tablet comprising 5 to 80 % by weight of a surfactant selected from anionic surfactant, non-ionic surfactant and combinations thereof; a hydrotrope comprising an alkyl aryl sulphonate having C1 to C5 alkyl chain; and select disintegrants, wherein the surfactant comprises at least an anionic surfactant being alkyl cocoyl taurate. The tablet disintegrates quickly in contact with water, thereby provides a liquid cleaning composition. The present invention further provides a process for obtaining a hard surface cleaner and a method for cleaning a surface.
