MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641123911 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 16, 2026, for A Wearable System For Heatstroke Risk Prediction Using Multi-Modal Physiological And Environmental Monitoring.
Inventors include Vijayashree J; Raghav Tibrewal; Divy Kumar Agrawal; and Dr. J Jayashree.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A wearable heatstroke risk prediction system (100) comprises a bioimpedance sensing module (110) that acquires multi-frequency bioimpedance measurements and generates hydration-related parameters, a sweat sensing module (120) that determines sweat electrolyte concentration, a physiological sensing module (130) that generates cardiovascular strain parameters, and an environmental sensing module (140) that generates heat index information from ambient temperature and humidity. A processing unit (150) generates a Thermal-Hydration Risk Index (THRI) through weighted fusion of the hydration-related parameters, electrolyte concentration information, cardiovascular strain parameters and heat index information, and compares the THRIagainst a plurality of threshold levels. An alert enforcement module (160), comprising a haptic actuator (162), an acoustic transducer (164) and a wireless communication module (166), generates progressively escalating alerts, including emergency notification to a remote supervisory monitoring platform (180), according to the threshold level reached. Sensing, risk computation and alert generation are performed within the wearable Apparatus.
