Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: A WIDEBAND ELECTRONICALLY TUNABLE PHASE SHIFTER USING A MICROSTRIP TO SLOT TRANSITION WITH IMPROVED POWER HANDLING CAPABILITY. The present invention relates to a wide band electronically tunable RF phase shifter capable of handling high input power levels. Herein, a parallel-coupled microstrip line structure, positioned directly above a pair of ground slots. The diodes are positioned in regions of lower RF field strength, minimizing direct exposure. The diodes perturb the electric field distribution of the parallel lines, influencing the field distribution of the ground slots, which, in turn, alters the reactive loading of the microstrip line. Consequently, the diodes indirectly control the reactive loads, enabling continuous phase shift control from 0° to 180° while maintaining a linear response up to an input power of 26dBm. In contrast, a traditional shunt configuration using the same diodes results in an OP1 dB point of 21 dBm.Present invention can support high power handling capability, i.e. up to 26dBm as an RF source limitation, which can measure till 26 dBm,i.e. 298% than the conventional one. A low insertion loss of the cascaded unit is 2.6dB over 9-11GHz after using multiple diodes. (Figure 11)
