Abstract: The present invention relates to a yeast collection tank for distillery wastewater treatment. The yeast collection tank for efficient removal of yeast solids from distillery wastewater prior to anaerobic digestion. The invention comprises a tank structure (101) divided by internal partition walls (102) into four chambers, namely a first chamber (103), a second chamber (104), a third chamber (105), and a fourth chamber (106). Distillery wastewater enters the tank through a wastewater inlet (107) and flows sequentially through the chambers in an alternating zig-zag up-and-down flow pattern created by top openings and bottom orifices (109). This flow configuration promotes repeated gravity settling of suspended yeast solids on a sloped tank floor (110). Clarified wastewater is discharged through a wastewater outlet (108). Each chamber is provided with drain pipes (111) connected to a yeast collection sump (112) for periodic removal of accumulated yeast sludge. The tank operates under gravity without electrical energy and is constructed with concrete walls coated with FRP. The invention achieves yeast collection efficiency of approximately 85–90%, thereby reducing foam formation and improving operational stability of downstream anaerobic digesters.
