Abstract: The invention relates to a zero waste system and method for recycling old solar photovoltaic (PV) modules through an integrated and multi-layered process. The system is made up of a disintegration unit for the separation of frames and junction boxes, a thermal delamination reactor for the separation of layers of glass and cladding, a hydrometallurgical recovery unit for the separation of metals such as silver and copper and a polymer pyrolysis chamber for the conversion of polymeric substances into useful by-products. A waste gas processing unit is provided to neutralise the emissions from the process. An AI-assisted controller is incorporated to monitor and optimise process parameters such as temperature, reaction time and recovery efficiency. The invention is directed to the efficient recovery of glass, silicon, metals and polymers with minimal waste generation. The recovered material can be recycled in industrial applications, providing an environmentally sustainable and economically viable solution for solar PV waste management.
