MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441025226 A) filed by Carborundum Universal Limited on March 28, 2024, for Abrasive Materials Of Near Eutectic, Eutectic Ceramics Consisting Of In- Situ Grown Crystals Of Primary Alumina And Primary Zirconia And A Method Of Manufacturing The Same.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Abrasive materials of near eutectic, eutectic ceramics consisting of in-situ grown crystals of primary alumina and primary zirconia and a method of manufacturing the same 5 The present invention provides abrasive materials of near eutectic, eutectic ceramics consisting of in-situ grown crystals of primary alumina and primary zirconia, wherein the abrasive material comprising AZ40 and AZ25 abrasives materials, said in situ grown alumina-rich and zirconia-rich crystals in the range of 0.5 to 40 µm - 0.5 to 100 µm in length, 10 breadth, thickness, and diameter; said abrasive composition comprising in wt% Alumina: 45% to 95%, Zirconia: 3% to 55%, Titania: 0-4%, Yttria:0-3%, Silica: 0-0.5%, Magnesia: 0-4%, Calcia: 0-3%, Chromia: 0-3%, and Soda:0- 1%. The present invention also provides a method for manufacturing the same.
