MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541000458 A) filed by Bharat Electronics Limited on January 02, 2025, for Ac Mains Surge Protection Unit.
Inventor includes Thulashiramu B L.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an AC mains surge protection unit is designed to safeguard AC-powered equipment from power surges and lightning strikes. It comprises a printed circuit board (PCB) (100) assembly housing thermal metal oxide varistors (TMOVs) (102, 104, 106, 108, 110, 112, 114 & 116) in common and differential modes to protect line-to-neutral, line-to-earth, and neutral-to-earth connections. Thermal fuses are integrated with the TMOVs (102, 104, 106, 108, 110, 112, 114 & 116) to monitor their status and disconnect power upon detecting failures or excessive surges. A solid-state relay (SSR) (124) controls power extension, providing noise-free operation without moving mechanical parts. A visual indication system (126) displays the operational status of the AC mains surge protection unit, including failures. The AC mains surge protection unit complies with IEC 61000-4-5 and IEC 61643 standards, ensuring reliable surge protection and predictive maintenance.
