MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511008016 A) filed by Sanskriti University on January 30, 2025, for Adaptable Wheelchair Foot Resting Device.

Inventors include Dr. Harimohan Tanwar; and Dr. Gupta Poonam Kumari Ramashray.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: An adaptable wheelchair foot resting device, comprising a rectangular base 101 adapted to be placed on a foot region of a wheelchair, a pair of rectangular plates 102 mounted on a pair of sliding units 103 , by means of ball and socket joint, sliding units 103 installed on base 101 for enabling a user to place their feet on plates 102 in various positions, a rectangular flap 104, configured with a plurality of hinges and provided with a cushioned coating, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 105 determine shape and dimensions of user’s feet with an ultrasonic sensor, a temperature sensor detects temperature of user’s feet, a Peltier unit alter temperature of plates 102 , multiple air cushions 106 embedded on plates 102 and in flap 104, connected to an inflation unit 107 for providing a massage to feed by a repeated inflation and deflation of cushions 106.
