MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641095619 A) filed by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&d Institute Of Science And Technology on August 07, 2026, for Adaptive Automatic Bicycle Bell Triggering And Hazard Assessment System.
Inventors include Dr. A. Mutharasan; Arpita Hirkane; Adapa Sri Nethikonda; and T. Praneeth Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: Abstract Adaptive Automatic Bicycle Bell Triggering and Hazard Assessment System The system comprises an embedded processing unit, obstacle detection sensors, motion sensing units, an energy harvesting unit, a rechargeable energy storage unit, audible and visual warning devices, and a wireless communication module. The processing unit continuously acquires obstacle proximity, relative approach characteristics, bicycle speed, braking behaviour, rider dynamics, and contextual operating conditions to generate a dynamic hazard assessment index. The computed hazard assessment index is compared with adaptive decision thresholds to autonomously activate warning mechanisms without manual rider intervention. The invention further incorporates intelligent energy management for allocating harvested electrical energy among sensing, processing, communication, and warning functions, thereby enabling continuous self-powered operation. The system further supports adaptive rider behaviour learning, emergency event detection, and wireless communication for remote monitoring, providing an intelligent, energy-efficient, and predictive bicycle safety platform for enhanced rider protection.
