Abstract: In India's rapidly growing e-commerce and food delivery sector, delivery personnel face significant challenges due to extreme and unpredictable weather conditions. In cities like Mumbai, workers encounter scorching afternoon heat, high humidity, monsoon rains and cold evenings all within a single day. Traditional uniforms fail to provide comfort across such variations, leading to dehydration, fatigue and health risks. This research proposes an Adaptive Clothing Model using chemically responsive textiles that integrate phase-change microcapsules, hydrochromic dyes, nanofibers and thermochromic coatings. These smart textiles allow the clothing to regulate temperature, wick away sweat and change color based on environmental conditions, enhancing worker comfort and safety. Beyond functionality, the model creates a scalable business opportunity through patent protection, enabling integration with corporate CSR initiatives under the Companies Act, 2013. By sponsoring adaptive clothing for delivery workers in select states, companies can simultaneously fulfil CSR obligations and improve workforce welfare. Data for this study will be collected using interviews with delivery personnel, courier branch managers and hotel owners through random sampling across Mumbai. The project aims to demonstrate how innovative smart clothing can transform employee well-being, strengthen corporate responsibility and establish a commercially viable, socially impactful business model.
