Abstract: ABSTRACT ADAPTIVE CONTACT FERRULE FOR ASSISTIVE WALKING DEVICES An adaptive contact ferrule (100) for an assistive walking device is provided. The adaptive contact ferrule (100) comprises a shaft interface body (110) having a conical load transfer geometry configured to receive axial compressive forces from a walking aid shaft and redirect the axial compressive forces into radial force components. A compliant rib structure (120) extends radially outward from the shaft interface body (110) and comprises a plurality of rib arms having flexural zones configured to guide controlled deformation along predetermined paths. A circumferential coupling ring (130) is connected to the compliant rib structure (120) and configured to coordinate motion of a plurality of segmented contact elements (140). The plurality of segmented contact elements (140) are arranged in a petal configuration around a circumference of the adaptive contact ferrule (100) and are configured to expand radially in response to the radial force components transmitted through the compliant rib structure (120).
