MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611079788 A) filed by Chandigarh University on June 29, 2026, for Adaptive Convertible Dual-Mode Sanitary Toilet With Reconfigurable Geometry And Smart Waste Transition System.
Inventors include Kaustav Dey; and Suman Debnath.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an intelligent reconfigurable dual-geometry sanitary toilet system (100) configured to selectively operate in western sitting mode and Indian squatting mode within a single integrated structure. The system comprises a seat ring assembly (101), a toilet bowl opening (102), a main toilet body (103), a flush control unit (104), a seat conversion mechanism (105), retractable anti-slip foot platforms (106), and a waste outlet connection (107). An adaptive mode transition mechanism (200) includes a mode selection actuator (201), an unlocking mechanism (202), a seat transformation linkage assembly (203), a foot platform deployment mechanism (204), and a waste flow diverter (205). An operational control flow (300) enables automated mode selection, safety verification, geometry conversion, position locking, and adaptive flushing. The invention enhances user convenience, hygiene, safety, water efficiency, accessibility, and space utilization while minimizing installation complexity and maintenance requirements.
