Abstract: The present invention discloses an adaptive cross-medium acoustic-radio frequency transceiver system (100) that translates an underwater acoustic information signal into an over-the-air radio frequency observable. The system (100) comprises a submerged acoustic transmitter assembly (110), an airborne radio-frequency sensing assembly (120) employing a millimeter-wave frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar module (122), a signal conditioning and phase extraction module (130), and a hybrid channel characterization module (140) that computes a channel quality vector using a Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit statistic. A self-calibration subsystem (150) periodically injects pilot waveforms and updates a calibration reference memory (154) indexed by environmental parameters with admissible bounds of plus or minus 30 degrees of phase and plus or minus 6 decibels of amplitude. A channel-adaptive mode-switching controller (160) consults a waveform-mode library (164) and selects an optimum waveform mode stabilized by a hysteresis buffer (168), thereby achieving robust cross-medium communication.
