Abstract: The present invention provides a new mechanical form of a joystick attachment intended for use in replacement of foot-operated pedals in clutch-less vehicles, with a particular aim of assisting people with lower limb disabilities. It comprises a single ergonomic joystick attached to a floor-fixed chassis with a specialized link and joint mechanism connecting the acceleration and brake pedals. A major technical aspect of the device is the telescopic mechanism incorporated in the design, which eliminates mechanical interference through the use of a retractable pedal link. It provides an increased sense of independence through hand-operated vehicle control.
