Abstract: The present invention discloses an adaptive image encryption method employing Cellular Automata-based substitution boxes for secure image protection. The method comprises dividing an image into blocks, determining entropy values, and classifying the blocks into entropy categories. Substitution boxes generated from Cellular Automata Rules 30, 90, and 150 are applied in combination with scrambling and diffusion operations to generate an encrypted image. The substitution and diffusion operations are applied according to the entropy categories, thereby providing adaptive encryption and enhanced image protection. The utilization of multiple Cellular Automata-based substitution boxes improves transformation diversity and strengthens resistance against statistical attacks. The disclosed method further reduces pixel correlation and enhances randomness characteristics of the encrypted image.
