The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for acknowledgment-based retransmission in a satellite communication system on a downlink channel using broadcast protocols. The method comprises segmenting the data, in at least one of a first mode or a second mode, to tag data segments with an identifier for selective retransmission upon NACK, transmitting data from a satellite to a ground station during an Nth ground pass, receiving a decoding status from the ground station during an N+1th ground pass through a control channel, wherein the decoding status comprises an acknowledgment (ACK) indicating successful decoding or a no acknowledgment (NACK) indicating decoding failure, retransmitting the data during an N+2th ground pass upon receiving the NACK, and continuing transmission of new data upon receiving the ACK. The method may operate in elevation angle based or Stream ID based data segmentation modes. Real-time link budget analysis may be performed upon receiving continuous NACK signals to pause transmission or change MODCOD scheme. Retransmission may enable soft-combining to enhance decoding capability. (Figure 1)
