Abstract: The exponential growth of scientific literature across global research disciplines has rendered comprehensive manual literature review increasingly infeasible, creating an urgent need for intelligent automation of the scholarly analysis lifecycle. The present invention discloses an Agentic AI Autonomous Research Assistant for Knowledge Discovery — a multi-agent pipeline system that autonomously executes the complete literature survey workflow, from targeted scholarly retrieval through critical appraisal, cross-paper synthesis, and novel idea generation, with minimal human intervention. The system orchestrates five specialized agents — a Search Agent, Summarizer Agent, Critic Agent, Comparator Agent, and Idea Generator Agent — each assigned a discrete and well-defined analytical responsibility within a sequential, context-propagating pipeline managed by a central orchestration module. Scholarly paper retrieval is performed through structured API integration with the OpenAlex knowledge graph and arXiv repository. All agent reasoning is powered by the Google Generative AI (Gemini) large language model infrastructure. Intermediate outputs and final survey reports are persistently managed in a MongoDB document store, and the system is deployed through a Docker Compose-based containerized architecture comprising a FastAPI backend and a reactive web frontend. The invention delivers superior survey depth, analytical fidelity, and output transparency relative to existing single-model and keyword-based research automation tools.
