MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431021536 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 21, 2024, for Agglomerated Flux Composition For Cladding Of Ni-Cr Alloys In Submerged Arc Welding.

Inventors include Dineshkumar Thiruselvam; Madhusoodana Chengala Damodara; and Govindaswamy Thirupathi.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an agglomerated flux composition for use in Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) process with Ni-Cr based alloy strips containing high Chromium (Cr) and Niobium (Nb) content. The flux composition comprises Calcium Fluoride, Alumina, Magnesium Oxide (MgO), Silicon Dioxide, Calcium Oxide, Chromium Oxide (Cr2O3), Iron alloy substitution, and Tungstic Oxide mixed in specified proportions. The method involves mixing these ingredients, adding them into a solution of Sodium silicate or Potassium silicate, granulating, drying, sintering, sieving, and packaging the flux composition. The resulting flux facilitates easy slag removal, prevents defects like undercut and surface cracks, and enhances weld characteristics, making it suitable for applications requiring high strength, excellent fabricability, and outstanding corrosive resistance.
