Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of an artificial intelligence-enabled smart biosensor platform with an emphasis on the fast, on-field measurement of harmful pollutants. Using machine learning algorithms plugged into nanomaterial-based biosensors, the system reflects complex biochemical interactions with unprecedented precision and in real-time to provide timely action. The AI element learns continuously regardless of environmental noise and sensor drift, improving specificity many folds at a drastically reduced false positive rate. Results from experimental validation showed that the platform is capable of multiplexed detection of traces of toxins, pathogens, pesticides and heavy metals in minutes. This combined use case represents a robust new mechanism for environmental monitoring, food safety and public health defence, uniquely enabling this vital analytical methodology while providing an easily deployed scalable solution at lower cost than traditional, laboratory bound assays.
