Abstract: An AI-assisted adaptive protection and fault isolation system for renewable-integrated smart microgrids is disclosed. The system comprises a distributed sensing module (110), synchronized preprocessing unit (120), edge-based AI inference engine (130), topology recognition module (140), adaptive protection controller (150), breaker actuation interface (160), secure communication module (170), and supervisory interface (180). Real-time electrical parameters are analyzed using machine learning models to classify faults and dynamically adjust protection settings. The topology module enables coordination during grid-connected and islanded modes. Upon fault detection, selective isolation is executed with minimal latency. The invention enhances selectivity, reduces miscoordination, improves resilience, and supports scalable integration of renewable energy sources.
