Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for AI-assisted contamination risk assessment in food products using smartphone-acquired images. The system captures multiple RGB images of a food item under different illumination conditions and viewing orientations. The acquired images are processed and supplied to a spectral inference engine that utilizes physics-informed optical modeling and machine learning techniques to estimate spectral characteristics associated with the food product. Inferred spectral features are compared with stored reference signatures corresponding to contamination-associated conditions, food quality states, and purity indicators. A contamination assessment engine generates contamination risk scores and confidence indicators that are displayed through a mobile application interface. The system further incorporates a database and cloud-based learning framework for improving prediction performance using aggregated assessment data. The invention provides a non-destructive, scalable, and hardware-independent screening tool for food contamination risk assessment without requiring dedicated spectroscopic equipment.
