Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial-intelligence-based machine-vision system for real-time condition monitoring of conveyor belts used in mining and industrial material-handling applications. The system employs an RGB industrial camera for non-contact monitoring of a moving conveyor belt, images acquired by the RGB camera are pre-processed and analyzed using an artificial-intelligence-based vision model to identify visible belt defects, including tears, cracks, cuts, edge damage, splice deformation, and wear. The detected defect information is processed to determine the condition of the conveyor belt. The system classifies the belt condition into NORMAL, WARNING, or CRITICAL states and communicates the corresponding condition through a LabVIEW and/or PLC-based monitoring interface for alarm generation, HMI indication, and maintenance notification. The system provides continuous, non-contact inspection and supports condition-based and predictive maintenance by enabling early identification of developing visible conveyor-belt defects.
