MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641118740 A) filed by Srm Trp Engineering College on October 05, 2026, for Ai-Based Smart Crop Disease Detection And Early Warning System.

Inventors include Parkavi A; Rithanya Bowmi A; Suba Shree I; and Nivedaa Ga.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: An AI-based smart crop disease detection and early warning system is disclosed, comprising an image acquisition module and an edge convolutional-neural-network classification engine that diagnose plant disease from captured images without requiring network connectivity; at least one IoT environmental sensor node measuring temperature, humidity, leaf wetness and soil moisture; and a cloud-based disease-risk prediction engine that fuses image-based detections, environmental sensor data and third-party weather forecasts to compute a forward-looking disease-risk score. An early-warning alert generation module issues alerts, together with ranked Integrated Pest Management treatment recommendations, to the originating farmer and, via a community alert broadcast module, to neighbouring farms within a configurable geofenced radius, enabling proactive, community-level disease management. A regional heat-map dashboard aggregates data for agricultural extension officers. The system thereby predicts and contains crop disease outbreaks earlier and more effectively than reactive, single-farm, image-only diagnostic tools.
