MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611111160 A) filed by Mr. Rajeshkumar Rajaseakaran Nair on September 16, 2026, for Ai-Based System And Method For Temporal Reconciliation Of Visual Shelf State With Electronic Retail Inventory.
Inventor includes Mr. Rajeshkumar Rajaseakaran Nair.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an artificial intelligence based system for automated retail shelf monitoring and inventory management. The system acquires images of retail shelves using one or more imaging devices and processes the images through an AI-based visual analysis engine. The system identifies individual products, determines their shelf locations, evaluates visible availability, detects misplaced products and shelf abnormalities, and compares observed conditions with stored inventory information. A planogram analysis module further evaluates compliance between observed and expected product placement. Temporal analysis enables identification of product removal, replenishment, depletion, and persistent shelf vacancies. An event-generation module produces prioritized notifications for stockout, low-stock, placement deviation, and inventory discrepancy conditions. The system may employ edge, cloud, or hybrid computing and provides a management interface for continuous shelf-level inventory intelligence.
