Abstract: The present invention discloses an artificial intelligence-based system and method for real-time prediction of patient queue lengths, wait times, and overflow probability in hospital environments. The system integrates multi-source data streams comprising electronic health records, IoT-enabled bed and equipment sensors, staff scheduling feeds, and historical queue logs into a unified preprocessing and feature engineering pipeline. A machine learning prediction engine employing an ensemble of a Long Short-Term Memory recurrent neural network and a gradient-boosted decision tree model processes multi-dimensional feature vectors encoding temporal, occupancy, acuity, and staffing parameters to generate predictions over a configurable forecast horizon. An alert and recommendation engine implements a four-tier escalation logic that translates predicted queue states into automated notifications and resource reallocation directives for clinical and administrative personnel. An adaptive retraining module continuously updates model parameters on incoming ground-truth observations. The invention addresses the limitations of reactive, non- predictive queue management systems prevalent in hospital settings and enables proactive, data-driven hospital resource optimisation.
