Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI–enabled, multi-agent autonomous convoy protection and reconnaissance system to enhance safety and situational awareness during convoy operations in hostile, contested or uncertain environments. The system comprises a hierarchical architecture including Ranger drones for long-range threat detection, Hunter drones for close-range threat verification and a Sentinel command unit configured as a central control and decision-making hub. Multi-modal sensor data acquired by the Ranger and Hunter drones is processed using distributed AI models for anomaly detection, threat classification and friend–or–foe identification, and is fused at the Sentinel unit for real-time analysis. The system incorporates a mandatory human-in-the-loop control framework to ensure ethical operation and controlled engagement. Adaptive energy management enables extended mission endurance. A resilient multi-layer communication framework ensures operational continuity under electronic countermeasures or terrain-induced disruptions. The invention provides a scalable, modular and ethically supervised solution for high-value convoy protection applications.
