The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-enabled IoT-based food spoilage detection system designed to improve food safety, reduce food wastage, and enable real-time monitoring of food freshness. The system integrates multiple sensors including an MQ135 gas sensor for detecting spoilage gases, an MQ3 alcohol sensor for identifying fermentation, a turbidity sensor for monitoring contamination in liquid food samples, and a TCS3200 color sensor for detecting visual spoilage characteristics. These sensors are interfaced with an ESP32 microcontroller, which acts as the central processing unit for data acquisition, analysis, and communication. The acquired sensor data is processed using an intelligent AI/ML-based decision-making mechanism that classifies food conditions into categories such as Fresh, Consume Soon, and Spoiled. The system utilizes sensor fusion techniques to improve spoilage detection accuracy by combining multiple environmental and food quality parameters rather than relying on a single sensing method. The processed information is displayed locally on an OLED display and simultaneously uploaded to the ThingSpeak cloud platform through WiFi connectivity for remote monitoring, graphical visualization, and data storage. The cloud integration enables continuous tracking of food quality trends over time and supports future AI model training using collected sensor datasets. The proposed invention provides a compact, low-cost, portable, and energy-efficient solution suitable for household kitchens, restaurants, food storage facilities, supermarkets, and food industries. By integrating IoT connectivity, intelligent sensing, and AI-based analysis, the invention overcomes the limitations of conventional manual inspection methods and establishes an advanced automated approach for modern food quality monitoring and spoilage detection.
