Abstract: This invention presents an AI-Enabled Universal Maintenance Knowledge Capsule (UMKC) for CNC machines that provides real-time predictive maintenance guidance, fault diagnosis, and operator assistance without requiring physical experiments or sensor-based data collection. The UMKC integrates structured knowledge extracted from CNC manuals, tool life tables, lubrication charts, spindle speed–chatter mappings, cutting parameter databases, G-code/M-code troubleshooting guides, and alarm code libraries. A multi-layer semantic reasoning engine and a virtualized performance dataset generator work together to simulate CNC machine behavior based on standard industrial values. This enables the system to deliver context-aware recommendations such as optimal spindle speed, feed rate, coolant replacement intervals, chatter reduction techniques, and alarm resolutions. The knowledge capsule adapts and improves using operator feedback through a self-learning evolution layer. The framework is universal across CNC lathes, milling machines, and multi-axis machining centers, making it suitable for small-scale, medium, and large manufacturing industries. By replacing static manuals with a dynamic AI-enabled knowledge capsule, the invention significantly reduces machine downtime, eliminates operator dependency, enhances productivity, and bridges the skill gap in CNC machining environments.
