Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for the development of rapid growth in internet traffic and complexity in rule structures calls for more sophisticated ways of dealing with packet classification and forwarding tasks that would go beyond conventional capabilities of Ternary Content Addressable Memories (TCAM). The current paper proposes an innovative AI-based lookup device that is aimed at enhancing network operations by employing intelligent data processing techniques. The device in question employs machine learning algorithms, which makes it possible to effectively learn intricate patterns of network traffic flows and perform fast and accurate classification of the rules in question. At the same time, this solution helps to decrease the amount of time required for performing lookups and reduces energy requirements without lowering throughput rates. In addition, the suggested approach proves to be highly scalable and is capable of meeting new challenges without resorting to hardware limitations associated with static table lookups. FIG.1
