MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541045041 A) filed by Beml Limited on May 09, 2025, for Air Induction System And Method For Controlled Intake Air Boost In Heavy-Duty Engines.

Inventor includes K Prabakaran.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Air Induction System and Method for Controlled Intake Air Boost in Heavy-Duty Engines The present disclosure proposes air induction system (100) for providing controlled intake air boost in an internal combustion engine (10). The system (100) comprises an air cleaner (102) disposed at an intake air path to filter ambient air, and a duct fan (104) to accelerate the filtered air to selectively increase intake air pressure delivered to the engine (10). A monitoring unit (108) having plurality of sensors generates signals indicative of engine operating parameters. An electronic control unit (ECU) (110) analyzes the sensor signals to determine an intake air boost requirement and selectively controls activation and operating speed of the duct fan (104), while deactivating the duct fan (104) during idle or low- load conditions. A power source (112) supplies electrical power. The system (100) provides electronically controlled, demand-based intake air boosting as an alternative to exhaust-driven turbocharging.
